Aim and Purpose:

The Durban YMCA research unit’s role will be to generate information and knowledge that will assist the management in future planning of the programmes. The specific roles are described as indicated below:

  • To create opportunities for young people with research skills to engage with community development research.
  • To develop the capacity of the programmes staff in delivering responsive programmes that meets the needs of the community, which they serve.
  • To develop key partnerships with organizations and institutions involved in community development research.
  • To provide platform for constructive debates on issues that relate to YMCA such as advocacy and youth development.
